Allied Arts board members have been busy this year! The 26th Annual Renton River Days Celebration was held in July with the 15th Annual Chalk Art Contest and 2nd Crayon Fest to Liberty Park. Many artists return each year for the art contests.
Board members also volunteered their time at the Renton Annual Art Show on August 20th. where we helped with registering artists, assisted on judging day and at the Preview Party, and also spent time helping sell the wonderful art work of our local artists throughout the weekend. We have helped Arts Unlimited in the past, but this year, we teamed up with AU and the Piazza to have a longer walk that extended down South Third Street from Main to Shattuck.
Coming in October, is our Annual Fall Family Concert. The Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the IKEA Performing Arts Center at 400 S. 2nd. Street in downtown Renton on Sunday, October 30th at 3pm.The Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra is a group of community members who share a passion for music. As part of their outreach program, student musicians are invited to join in several rehearsals and an onstage performance with an afternoon of delightful classical music. Thanks to a partnership with the Renton School District, Renton Community Foundation and Renton Municipal Arts Commission, we have been able to provide this event at discounted prices. Allied Arts’ mission is to keep the ticket prices low so the entire family may attend and are supported in this endeavor by the Renton School District, Renton Municipal Arts Commission and the Renton Community Foundation. Nowhere will one find a concert of this caliber for such a reasonable rate. Each year audience members exclaim over the professional, polished performance of the musicians. Ticket prices are: Students (18 and under) $3. Seniors $5 and Adults $8. •
