Renton Spring Arts Equinox

2012 Spring Arts Equinox Held At Harambee’s In March

The 2012 Spring Arts Equinox was held on March 22nd at Harambee’s in downtown Renton. Co-hosted by Allied Arts of Renton and the Renton Municipal Arts Commission, the event was attended by an enthusiastic group of local artists and community art supporters who put their creative minds together to come up with ways to promote the arts in Renton. Breakout groups brainstormed and then shared their ideas collectively in open discussions.

Entertainment included performances by “Cry Out! Studios”, and music by the Renton Youth Symphony Orchestra. Presenters included, Benson Shaw who is working on the gateway to Renton artwork being funded by the 1% for Art fund, and Michelle Bettinger, performance artist with the stage name of Aunt Dottie. The event was catered by Toshi’s Teriyaki Grill. Each attendee also received a “Passport” to check off attendance at upcoming arts event in Renton, with anticipated prizes when completed. The Galvanizing Project team handed out stickers so everyone could vote for their favorites of the potential future Galvanizing Projects for the city of Renton.

Sponsors of the event are looking forward to an even more exciting event at the Fall Equinox on September 20th from 6 PM to 8 PM with location to be determined. More information is available at the Arts Commission website at www.rentonwa.gov.
